When I had to move into the Lodge I didn’t know what to expect, but I came with the attitude that I would like it and I would stay, as this is my new home. The staff at the Lodge are

excellent. When I have felt unwell, they insisted that I go to the hospital to make sure I was all right and they are always here to look after us. Our Manager has an open door policy and is
always willing to listen to our concerns as they arise. As for the Activity Coordinator, we have never had so many activities to do. If all residents would come out and participate they would realize what a wonderful place we have to live.
Our HCAs go above and beyond and can often be found delivering the residents’ their morning paper, socializing and laughing with the residents, taking them outside for some fresh air, as well as their many other duties. One of the favourite parts of my job is being able to come to work every morning and see the strong sense of pride that most of our staff and residents have for our Lodge and community. It is not unusual to see the residents helping each other, the cooks watering the flowers, the maintenance man making an item for a new activity, the HCAs helping in the gardens, the administrative assistant helping on outings, or the manager cleaning a room in preparation for a resident’s arrival. We are lucky to have so many wonderful people who together make such a great team.
It would be hard to find a place that would make their residents feel more at home than Piyami Lodge. We have a beautiful yard with many flowers and trees and you can often see deer, bunnies, or the odd squirrel roaming around. The inside of our Lodge is kept incredibly clean by some of the hardest working girls around. From the smell of homemade cookies and bread to the sound of friendly chattering among the residents making a puzzle or participating in exercises, the atmosphere at the Lodge is welcoming and friendly.
