Volunteers bring a unique passion and energy to our lodges. Green Acres Foundation volunteers perform many duties including, but not limited to, assisting with resident bus trips, calling bingo, facilitating games, and helping with movie nights. One-on-one opportunities for reading programs are also available.

There are enriching volunteer opportunities at all of our facilities.  If you are interested in volunteering please contact the Manager at your lodge of choice and they will assist you with the appropriate paperwork.  A clear criminal record check will be required.

Volunteer Testimonials

I have been a volunteer at Sunny South Lodge for about 5 years.

Having grown up in Coaldale I know many of the residents here. I enjoy visiting with them and seeing their children, who I went to school with, and reminiscing about the good old days at school.

These hardworking seniors have spent much of their life building our town of Coaldale. I feel that spending time at the Lodge is my way of giving back to the community and honoring our faithful citizens. The seniors appreciate even the smallest kindnesses done for them. I may be helping them at bingo, serving them a piece of cake at the monthly birthday party, or just holding their hand when they have had a sad day.  I never feel that my time has been wasted.

Colleen, the activity coordinator, is fabulous. It is a pleasure to help when everything is so well organized and fun. Colleen loves her job and it shows. She gets everyone excited to be a part of whatever she has planned for the day.

We are a family here. I wish that I could spend more time at the Lodge. The staff is so good to us and they always make sure that we have what we need to help them and the residents.

Thank you for the opportunity to help and care for our seniors

I have been a volunteer at Garden View Lodge since November 1999. That was when my father moved to the Lodge. They were looking for a pianist for hymn sign and Dad said “I wonder if you could do that?”. I feel very appreciated for my efforts. Recently, I have been helping with other activities as well as pianist.
