Health Care Aide Day
October 18th is Health Care Aide Day, which honours the vital contributions of Health Care Aides (HCAs) in our communities.
HCAs make up the largest occupational group of continuing care providers and are the second largest group of healthcare workers. According to the HCA Directory there are over 30,000 HCAs across the province! From assisting with daily living to building meaningful emotional connections, HCAs play an essential role in delivering quality care to the senior residents of Green Acres Foundation. Their compassionate support makes a significant impact on our residents’ physical health and emotional well-being. If you're interested in joining our HCA team, check out our openings here: https://www.greenacres.ab.ca/careers
Thank you to all our HCAs!

9 years and 5 months.
Why did you choose to become a health care aide/ work in healthcare?
When my grandfather was admitted to a long-term care facility and passed away, I witnessed some amazing care staff. The care and compassion they showed to my grandfather and my family was incredible. Right then I knew I wanted to be that person for other families. This was my calling.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
I love putting a smile on my residents’ faces and showing them love. Brightening their life even when it’s a bad day. When I walk in the room they smile, just because I’m there. I make a difference which is so rewarding.
What do you enjoy most about working with seniors?
Making residents happy and listening to their stories.
Anything else you would like to share?
